- Crab Spider Catches a Bumblebee is a video I have been trying to get many times over a three year period. This is a female crab spider and they require a fair amount of nutrition in order to successfully lay their eggs and produce young. Apparently bumblebees can provide the needed nutrition. She was hunting on a Thimbleberry Blossom on July 5, 2021 in Juneau, Alaska. She first has to paralyze the bumblebee before she can begin sucking the nutrients out of the bee. This whole process usually takes at least over 20 minutes so I shortened the video quite a bit to make it less boring.
