Dolly Varden in Winter

Mar 10, 2018 | Dolly Varden, Fish

  • Dolly Varden in Winter shows many adult and subadult Dolly Varden grouped together in a small open spot of an ice-covered lake.
  • The dissolved oxygen dropped considerably in this lake and the Dolly Varden appear to be under stress.
  • The dissolved oxygen levels measured between  1.1 – 2.3 on the day this video was taken. Also several dead fish were observed in the area.
  • For information about these fish look at Dolly Varden by Robert H. Armstrong and Marge Hermans
  • More detailed information about Dolly Varden in Alaska can be found here Dolly Varden charr, Salvelinus malma by Robert H. Armstrong & James E. Morrow
