- Feeding Amongst the Rocks shows mostly Surfbirds feeding in Juneau, Alaska on May 2, 2020.
- Also in the video is a Black Turnstone, Black Oystercatcher and Glaucous-winged Gull.
- The Surfbirds appear to be feeding on the smaller blue mussels and barnacles.
- For information about the status of this bird in Juneau and worldwide look at https://www.naturebob.com/sites/default/files/Mendenhall%20Wetlands%20book.pdf this bird is also featured on the cover of this book.
- The Surfbird is rather unusual because it nests in the alpine usually far from water. Many years ago I photographed one on its nest near Denali National Park. To see the photograph and the story look at https://www.naturebob.com/sites/default/files/Photographing%20Nature%20in%20Alaska.pdf and go to page 64.
