Great Blue Heron on March 2 & 3, 2017 in Juneau, Alaska
Mar 3, 2017 | Birds, Herons
- This video show a Great Blue Heron in the middle of winter in Juneau.
- These birds typically feed in freshwater at this time on stickleback.
- Not many freshwater areas are ice free enough for the heron to find fish.
- This particular site I believe is spring fed which helps keep it open and may be critical for the herons survival.
- It has been at this same spot for over a month.
- Of interest is the photo showing the skunk cabbage plants growth on March 3.
