Great Blue Heron on March 2 & 3, 2017 in Juneau, Alaska

This video show a Great Blue Heron in the middle of winter in Juneau.
These birds typically feed in freshwater at this time on stickleback.
Not many freshwater areas are ice free enough for the heron to find fish.
This particular site I believe is spring fed which helps keep it open and may be critical for the herons survival.
It has been at this same spot for over a month.
Of interest is the photo showing the skunk cabbage plants growth on March 3.
