Testing a Digital game Camera

- Testing a Digital Game Camera is a series of videos taken over about a 10 week period.
- I would put the camera in a different spot in the Juneau area and let it run for about 7 days and then move it to a different spot.
- The camera I used is a Moultrie M-990i.
- I was very pleased with the results and think it can be very useful for recording behavior of various creatures. The quality seems good enough to insert certain clips into a video project such as documenting the behavior of beavers.
- I used only the video mode set to run for 90 seconds upon activation. Creatures from a dragonfly, deer mouse to a bear would trigger the camera.
- I learned that branches in foreground would trigger the camera in the wind, sometimes heavy snow or rain would trigger the camera as well as waves and reflections in the water.
- The camera works well in the rain and may work for 5 weeks on a single set of lithium batteries.
- Many creatures are especially active at night and the infrared LED lights do an acceptable job of recording their activity.
- This 17 minute video gives several clips taken with the camera under a variety of conditions and should give one an idea of what to expect.
