- There is Not Enough Water is a video showing a chum salmon gasping for oxygen in a shallow stream.
- In the early part of a salmon run some of the fish are ready to spawn and try to enter streams even if they don't have enough water for them to spawn.
- This is especially true with small streams that enter a intertidal area. When the tide advances it allows them to enter the stream but when it receedes it may trap them in water too shallow for them to survive.
- This can happen during a period of drought. Also the oxygen level may be too low for them survive.
